Spinal Decompression Therapy

Back pain is the number one cause of disability in people under 45 and the third leading cause of disability over 45. Spinal Decompression Therapy has been proven effective at relieving the pain and symptoms from many spinal conditions. For some patients, surgery can even be avoided with Spinal Decompression Therapy.

Spinal decompression therapy can be used for:
  • Bulging or herniated discs
  • Sciatica (leg pain)
  • Degenerative discs
  • Worn spinal joints (posterior facet syndrome)
  • Spinal stenosis
  • Pinched nerves and more!

Q1

What is Spinal Decompresion Therapy?

Spinal Decompression is a non-surgical and drug-free answer for disc related problems of the lumbar or cervical spine. Many people across the country and around the world have found relief from the pain associated with herniated discs, bulging discs, facet syndrome, degenerative joint disease, pinched nerves, and other spinal afflictions from decompression therapy. Spinal disc decompression uses computer-aided technology to apply gentle, non-surgical decompression to your spine which increases circulation into the spinal discs and joints, thus helping to relieve the symptoms that cause pain and dysfunction.

How Does Spinal Decompression Work?

Spinal Decompression creates a unique and highly specific force that gently stretches the spine, causing negative pressure to develop in the damaged disc. This causes the disc bulge (or herniation) to move off of the injured nerve and retract back into the disc. At the same time, the negative pressure creates an opportunity for water, oxygen and nutrients to be drawn back into the disc. The goal is restoration and rejuvenation of the disc towards a normal height. During the course of Spinal Decompression care, pain diminishes as the disc heals.

Q2

Are There Any Contraindications?

Spinal decompression therapy is not recommended for advanced pregnancy, severe osteoporosis or severe obesity. It is also not recommended if you have had spinal surgery with instrumentation (screws, metal plates or cages). This is why a thorough examination and pre-screening is always done before any treatment protocol would be recommended.

Q3

Is This Therapy Gentle?

Yes, to be effective it must be. This is not like the old mechanical weighted units of the past. The system we use is computerized and will go up in small increments until the maximum setting is achieved. The same is used during release. You will barely notice since the computer control is so efficient.

Q4

Q5

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

This is variable from individual to individual, but there is a certain time frame that we expect to see results within, depending up your condition. We will give you an idea of this time frame when you come in for your initial consultation and examination. If you have any previous MRI or x-ray reports, please bring them with you.

Q6

How Much Will Spinal Decompression Therapy Cost?

We want spinal decompression therapy to be as affordable and available to as many people as possible in the Halton/Peel area. Your specific treatment plan will be determined after your initial consultation and examination. However, we are very pleased that we offer some of the lowest prices in the Greater Toronto Area!
